Art is always communicating, and I make a conscious effort to portray this in my work. I am especially inspired by the transformation of simple objects by joining them together to create something more complex. I choose to use materials such as scraps of fabric, pages of old books, sheet music, and discarded scraps of paper because each is ordinary, yet interesting, as each object holds its own story. Each marks a certain point in time.

The inspiration for my artwork often comes from a simple thought that captures my attention, replays in my mind, and ingrains in my head until I can sketch through a way to convey this idea on paper. Each piece of art that I create is a journey that begins in the soul to find a deeper meaning to a subliminal thought. I experiment with different combinations of materials until I find something that will serve the purpose of the piece. Often times the piece will take me in a different direction than I intended. Succumbing to this creative process is also a part of the journey, and sometimes the most important one.

I strive to transform ideas and repurpose materials in a way that evokes an emotion from the viewer and draws them in. Going through this artistic journey by combining old materials and transforming them into something new holds onto their essence and gives them new life and a new purpose.
