About the Artist

I have always been a collector, of sorts, and found beauty and usefulness in discarded objects. I grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and enjoyed making art from a young age.

I graduated from Upper Iowa University with a degree in art education, where I expanded my passion for realistic art to much more expressive and abstract styles. I was able to combine these styles to form a kind of controlled chaos in my work. The use of discarded objects aided in this approach to represent an underlying meaning of beauty and importance; something seen as trash can be made interesting if given a new purpose. These objects also hold a certain point in time that could otherwise be forgotten.

Upon graduating I moved to Colorado with my husband. We enjoyed spending four years in Colorful Colorado where I worked as a high school art teacher and was a member of NEXT Gallery in the 40 West Arts District. We recently moved back to Iowa to be closer to family, and I'm currently working on a new body of work. I'm excited to share it with you soon!
